Summer Reading

Summer Reading activities are wrapping up at Greater West Central Public Library District. In four weeks we had 340 in attendance, participating in activities to help prevent summer slide. There were many great programs including Klutzy the Clown, and Z & N Magic. Hancock County Farm Bureau did a fantastic presentation on cows, where everyone got to participate in making ice cream. Schuyler County Farm Bureau visited Littleton Library to teach us about grapes. There was also a Beach Day, that got the kids outside and active, playing with water. Children are encouraged to bring in their reading logs weekly through the end of July, to spin the wheel for prizes.

However, it needs to be said without all of our generous donators none of these things would be possible.  A special thank you goes out to the following groups, individuals, businesses, and organizations: Suzy Qs Augusta, Carolyn Wright State Farm Agent, Judy Bell, Augusta Farmer’s Co-op, Bank of Advance Bowen, Brown County State Bank, Janssen Seed Services, Chicago Zoological Society, Knights Action Park, Augusta Plumbing and Heating, Fun City, Rhodes Market, Shed Aquarium, Field Museum, Magic House, Saint Louis Science Center, Chicago Children’s Museum, Adams Telephone Co-op, Casino Lane’s Quincy, Scotties Fun Spot, Treasures, and of course all the parents, grandparents, and day care providers for bringing the children. If I inadvertently forgot anyone, please let me know and accept my sincere apology.

Thank you for making this such a great community for our libraries as well as the community’s children.
